Laco 861690 Watch Aachen Type B dial

The Laco Aachen 861690 was inspired by the original World War II Laco Pilot watches. This reliable timepiece piece boasts a Miyota 821A (21 jewels) automatic (self winding) movement by Citizen located inside of the 42 mm x 12mm thick stainless steel case. One of the great features of the Laco 861690 is the crystal exhibition back allowing you to see the reliable citizen movement which offers a power reserve of at least 40 hours when fully winded.

A sapphire crystal frames a black dial with large Arabic numeral minute indicators on an outer ring. The inner ring is rounded by smaller Arabic numeral hour indicators. As expected from a pilot watch, this timepiece offers a great readability in the dark, the hands and dial markers are treated with C3 Super Luminova. A distinguished looking brown leather band with rivets and buckle closure joins to the stainless steel case. This watch has been tested for water resistance of up to 5 atm (50 meters).

This German Made 861690 watch comes with 2 year warranty + plus one year warranty offered by justwatchme.net and arrives in a very original Laco zipper leather case.

  3. Outstanding! Watch Reviews

Have only had this watch on my wrist for a few hours now and I'm impressed. Another review here for this watch is what motivated choosing the Aachen. Leather strap is substantial and feels good on the wrist. I also highly recommend this seller - the service is excellent.

  4. Nice Watch Watch Reviews

Posted by shawn Mercer on 12th Mar 2013

Bought this watch a few weeks ago and have been happy with the purchase. The reason I bought it was because I was looking for a departure from my normal watch. I have a few pilot type watches, all larger than typically 44mm and all with metal bracelets. This watch really fit the bill of what I was looking for with the simple leather band and the simple face. I did a lot of review on this watch through many sites before making my final decision. It came down really to this watch, the same watch with the ETA movement ($700+) and one of the Hamilton Khaki watches ($700+). The Hamilton is a very nice watch and I really liked the distinct styling on the dial with the raised metal numerals and the ETA movement is very durable and smooth. What it came down to was that it was not quite "simple" enough looking for me as I was really looking to depart from my norm of lots of function overall "clutter". This left me with this watch and the more expensive ETA movement version. This watch has a really great history all the way back to the 1920s and into WWII with the German pilots. It was one of only a few brands issued at the time. While this watch is pretty plain, it is for a reason as it keeps in touch with its historic roots. Truth be told, I think the ETA version is a better watch (not just because of the movement). It has the historical engravings on the side of the case as well as the case back and has a more traditional face, albeit subtle. The common observer would never notice the difference between the two besides maybe the clear case back on the Miyota and the lack thereof on the ETA. In the end I chose this watch because the few subtleties were not enough to make up for the price difference. The numerals have a distinct green/yellow(ish) color to it which is the lum over a not quite black face (dark grey?) The numerals are painted or screened on and are sharp and attractive. Nowhere near the attractiveness of the raised numerals on the Hamilton but again, this watch is a near copy of the original flieger. The overall fit and finish of the entire watch is very nice and I have no complaints in any of those areas. For those who care about the movement or in laymans terms, the "sweep" of the second hand, it is a nice movement. The watch keeps very accurate time losing just seconds per day. The hand has a nice sweep to it with a the subtle remnants of a "tick". For reference, the ETA version is 28.8K BPH (beats per hour) while this watch with the Miyota is nearer 21.6K BPH. The ETA will provide a very nice "sweep" while this watch does very well for the money it costs. Id certainly buy this watch again. If you have the extra money or are on the fence I would go for the ETA movement version over this one. I have a watch "problem" and rotate through around 10 between the $400-$1200 range so the extra money on this one was just not in it for me. You wont regret either. Oh, on a side note, the case and packing this watch comes in is superb.
